The Museo Canario in Vegueta, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is devoted almost exclusively to the first inhabitants of Gran Canaria, the guanches.
It shows how the first inhabitants lived at least since the 2nd half of the first millennium BC, until the fifteenth century, when the Castilian conquest and colonization occurs.
Where and how they built their homes, what they ate or how they buried their dead are just some of the aspects that the visitor will discover during their tour of the 11 different exhibits that make up our Museum.
The Museo Canario is focussing its efforts on conservation, research and exhibition of archaeology and documentation. It also offers library, newspaper and file services specializing in the Canaries, providing its services to researchers, students and the general public.
Entrance fee: 3 €
